For Immediate Release: New CBS Reality Show Takes a Close Look at Charlotte Rock Singer/Songwriters(Charlotte, NC) Mark Burnett Productions (the tv production company responsible for Survivor, The Apprentice, and the Contender) is searching the Charlotte music scene for the next national rock sensation. The production company is searching for contestants for its forthcoming reality show on CBS called Rockstar. The show seeks to find the next lead singer for the rock band, INXS, whose lead singer Michael Hutchence died in 1997. Unlike American Idol, the new CBS show is searching for rock singers, not pop singers. Addtionally, the singers must also be able to write their own songs. The producers are holding open auditions in 20 cities worldwide--including Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, Atlanta, Sidney, Liverpool, and Charlotte. The show is schedule to air on CBS this summer in 13 episodes. Mark Burnett Productions is hosting an open call on Tuesday, Jan. 25th at the Milestone Club 3400 Tuckaseegee Road. Applicants should be at least 21 years old and should be prepared to perform 3 songs. Original songs are preferred. All applicants must bring in a completed application; applications can be downloaded from http://www.inxsrockstar.com. In addition to Tuesday's open call, Mark Burnett has scouted the local music scene to invite some of this area's top indie artists to a special day of auditions on Wednesday. Wednesday's applicants have scheduled appointment times and do not have to wait in the long lines caused by the open call. Some of these selected performers include Brian Hartzog of The Funk and Roll Show, Todd Brown of Withstand, Dave Nason of LFE, and Patrick Jason of Ultralush. "I got an email from the talent producer," said Hartzog, "and I decided to take part because opportunities to get my music heard nationally are otherwise non-existant....This is a cool opportunity for the NC music scene."
