NSAI Charlotte Songwriter Showcase in November

For Immediate Release:

On Saturday, November 22nd at 3 p.m., Borders Books and Music at Stonecrest will host its second monthly songwriter showcase. November’s event will feature live performances by Thomas Hendley, Clark Hoyle, and Anje Seufert-- three Charlotte songwriters who, despite their individual careers, occasionally co-write and perform together. The event highlights Border’s commitment to supporting NSAI and local music.

The November 22nd show features the following performers:

Thomas Hendley:

An accomplished musician and songwriter, Thomas Hendley has been playing piano and guitar since grade school. He started writing songs in high school, where he first performed one of his originals in public. In college, while accidentally majoring in music theory, Thomas played the club scene, performing songs by James Taylor, Jimmy Buffett, and the like. Thomas currently works as a dentist, but he frequently performs his original material in the Charlotte area-both as a solo artist and as a guitarist for the band MatadorRed.

Clark Hoyle:

Clark Hoyle has been singing and playing guitar since before Al Gore invented the internet. All that experience has definitely given him some interesting and insightful--not to mention hilarious--things to say. His influences include such artists as James Taylor, Jim Croce, Jimmy Buffett, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson. When asked to categorize his songwriting and performing style, Clark says, "Country?, Rock?, Americana?, Redneck??? Yes... No... Maybe. I like to tell stories. If you do something interesting, you might find yourself in one of my songs. If you do something redneck, count on it!"

Anje Seufert:

Exotic name, native Charlottean! Anje says that spelling her name has been one of those character-building experiences that has shaped who she is today: a singer-songwriter who celebrates the complex, misunderstood, real things that matter. Her influences of blues, folk, rock, and soul permeate her songs. Having been a performer all her life, she feels she is living her dream through expressing her music. Anje plays both guitar and piano and sings with her own band, MatadorRed. She sings with depth and tenderness and takes her stories to the edge...balancing imagination and authenticity.
