Description:
I played as part of the NSAI songwriters set at Earth Day. The Nature
Center had a lot of stuff going on to celebrate Mother Earth. Kids and
parents had fun checking out the Nature exhibits, listening to music,
and crawling through giant animal playtime attractions...there was even
a lady walking around with a snake around her neck! Talk about rock and
roll!! Alice Cooper eat your heart out!
I am continually impressed with the quality of talent in the Charlotte
NSAI group. Other performers included: Bruce Johnson, Rob Webster, and
Clark Hoyle. Everyone did a great job.
I learned that my music is actually appealing to the 4 and under crowd...thanks
to the cute dancing girls who shyly peered around the corner to check
out my noise. Several of the parents were head-bobbing as well. I performed
in a cube-sized alcove off of the main hall. Parents and kids wandered
by on their way to the exhibits. As the crowd meandered by, some stopped
for a while to check out the music.
The first two songs of my set were probably the best. I did, however,
freak most everyone out by singing Amy's Run Away...a song about a runaway,
child abused, topless dancer. In retrospect, that probably wasn't the
best song choice!!!
Anyway, the gig was fun...and, afterwards, I got a lot of emails from
friends who couldn't make it because of the Easter holiday. I hope to
see everyone next time!
